Chess
collection

The digital rare editions Archive includes over a thousand unique works: chess books, chess magazines and chess dissertations in the most spoken European languages. The oldest books date from the 16th century, and the most recent books and periodicals are from the early Soviet-era (up to 1930).

The Chess Federation of Russia initiated the “Chess Collection” project, and the Renault Russia company provided financial support. The Russian State Library selected rare editions and digitalized them.
